OLED Panel Shipments Rebound in Q3’23 on Y/Y Growth from Smartphones, Monitors and Tablets

As revealed in DSCC’s latest release of the OLED Shipment Report – Flash Edition, OLED panel shipments increased 18% Q/Q and 14% Y/Y in Q3’23 to 205M units (Q2’23 saw a 1% Y/Y increase). The Y/Y growth for several applications is a welcome sign indicating that inventory has started to rebalance for some categories after Y/Y declines in 2022 and in the first half of 2023. In Q3’23, by select OLED applications, OLED smartphones panel shipments increased 12% Q/Q and 25% Y/Y in units and OLED TV panel shipments decreased 14% Q/Q and 40% Y/Y in units. DSCC Report Reveals MiniLED Penetration Continues to Steadily Increase

The impact of sluggish global demand continued to influence MiniLED shipments in Q2’23. DSCC’s latest Quarterly MiniLED Backlight Technologies, Cost and Shipment Report reveals that MiniLED shipments fell 5% Q/Q and 32% Y/Y in Q2’23 to 41.3M units, the lowest total since Q3’21. However, the MiniLED market is expected to have rebounded in Q3’23 with inventory approaching normal levels and demand responding, rising 26% Q/Q to 52.1M units, but still down 33% Y/Y. MiniLED backlight shipments fell 1% Q/Q and 15% Y/Y to 3.94M in Q2’23 and are believed to have risen 16% Q/Q while falling 24% Y/Y to 4.6M in Q3’23.Read More

Fab Utilization Cooling in Q4’23 to Avoid Oversupply

The increase in display fab utilization that started in Q1’23 accelerated in the second and third quarters but has come to an end and utilization is declining in the fourth quarter, according to the latest release of DSCC’s Quarterly All Display Fab Utilization Report issued last week. The big increases in utilization by LCD makers have stocked the display supply chain with sufficient product for the holiday selling season, and panel makers are tapping the breaks in an effort to make a “soft landing” and avoid an oversupply.Read More
