DSCC Launches Industry’s First Automotive Display Design Win and Specification Database

La Jolla, CA -

  • Reveals every display and their specifications for every vehicle model by application, covers >100 automotive brands and nearly 1800 models.
  • Identifies display suppliers for >30 brands, amounting to over 300 models.
  • Premium version reveals worldwide display shipments by model. Shipments for over 32M displays in Q1’24 are identified by brand, model, powertrain, display technology (frontplane & backplane), display size, resolution, form factor, etc.

DSCC is pleased to announce the availability of its first two automotive display reports with a third under development.

The first report, the Automotive Display Design Win and Specification Database, identifies the display specifications for nearly every car and truck model in the world covering the period 2020 to Q1’24. For 107 automotive brands and nearly 1800 models, the database reveals:

  • Display application – Central Information Display (CID) and Digital Information Cluster (DIC) display specifications are shown today for each model. Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) and Heads Up Display (HUD) will be added soon.
  • Display size for each application, ranging from 2.5” to >19”.
  • Display resolution for each display.
  • Display backplane for each display, covering a-Si, LTPS and oxide.
  • Display frontplane for each display – LCD and OLED. MiniLED LCDs are also shown.
  • Display form factor for each display covering rigid, flexible and curved.
  • Display supplier for >30 brands and over 300 models.
  • Powertrain for each car model, segmented into internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) or battery electric vehicle (BEV).

The second report, the Biannual Automotive Display Shipment Report, includes all the information from the Automotive Display Design Win and Specification Database, but also includes automotive and automotive display shipment data. The automotive shipment data by model comes from DSCC’s parent Counterpoint Research and the deluxe version is also available by model on a country-by-country basis, covering 65 countries. This report reveals model shipment data back to 2020 and is available by quarter starting in Q1’23. This report allows users to determine:

  • Which brands and models bought the most displays on a unit and display area basis by quarter? This data can also be segmented by country, display technology, drivetrain, etc.
  • Which brands and models have the highest market share for each drivetrain type – gas, hybrid and EV?
  • Which panel suppliers have the highest share in the automotive market?
  • LCD vs. MiniLED LCD vs. OLED share and how this is evolving over time.
  • LTPS vs. a-Si vs. oxide share over time.

The report also allows for various display-related metrics such as:

  • Average # of displays per vehicle by quarter and how this differs between gas, electric and hybrid vehicles and by brand.
  • Average display size per vehicle over time which can be segmented by drivetrain type, by brand, etc.

Entitled, Annual Automotive Display Technology and Shipment Report, this report will reveal how display technology is evolving in LCDs, OLEDs and MicroLEDs to succeed in the automotive market.
