James Xiao, Applied Material’s Corporate Vice President and General Manager of the Display Thin Film Group will highlight Applied Material’s role in the display ecosystem. In the OLED industry, Applied Material’s PVD and CVD line of tools have enabled LTPS and Oxide backplane production for OLED displays while Applied Material’s PECVD tools used to deposit Silicon Nitride films for thin film encapsulation (TFE) have enabled flexible and foldables. As OLEDs continue to expand, Applied Materials is prepared to play a crucial role in offering integrated MOx solutions built upon their existing G8.7 and G10.5 PVD, CVD, enflexorTM TFE and EBR unit tools and processes to accelerating the adoption of top-gate MOx back plane technology and flexible OLED front-plane technology, and enable the fast ramp of MOx OLED yield and mass production.
Biography
James Xiao is corporate vice president and general manager of the Display Thin Film Group at Applied Materials, Inc. In his current role, Mr. Xiao oversees Display CVD, PVD and SEU product divisions' P&L, which have over $2B revenue in FY2018, and leads a global team with a growing footprint in U.S., Germany, Taiwan, China, Korea, India and Japan. Under his leadership and increasing responsibility, the TFG BU has grown display CVD revenue and profit with over 35% CAGR in the last five years, while gaining significant market share and capturing flexible OLED and solar market opportunities, and built strong PVD market momentum.
Prior to his BU role, Mr. Xiao was general manager of Solar Sales and Market Development for Applied Materials, where he was instrumental in creating more than $2.6 billion revenue for Applied’ s solar equipment business in China.
Mr. Xiao joined Applied Materials in 2006 with the acquisition of Applied Films, as president of Applied Films China and director of the board for an Applied Films China joint venture.
Mr. Xiao holds a bachelor of science degree in applied physics from the Dalian University of Technology and an MBA from Indiana University.
