This presentation introduces Qualcomm® Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensors and their advantages through recent 3D Sonic Launches. It illustrates the close linkage between components of various OLED display types and ultrasonic fingerprint sensor technology and the relationship between Display vendors, their TFT fabs, and the sensor. It further outlines the landscape going forward with larger area sensors and expanded functionality beyond biometrics.
Biography
Gordon Thomas serves as Senior Director of Product Management for Qualcomm, Incorporated, where he currently manages the Qualcomm® 3D Sonic Fingerprint Sensor products and business.
Prior to this role, he served as a Director in Qualcomm’s Internet of Things and Mobile Computing Business. Thomas is a seasoned leader, with over 15 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, in roles spanning business, engineering and product management. He began his career at Qualcomm, Incorporated, working on DRAM and Flash Memory technologies. Thomas holds a Master’s in computer science from the University of Southern California, was a recipient of the prestigious Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) scholarship and served on the Internet Society’s RFC Editor Team. He also holds a Bachelor of Engineering in computer engineering from the University of Mumbai, India
