SID/DSCC Business Conference Keynotes to Discuss their Vision for Future Display Markets and Technologies

La Jolla, CA -

The 2024 SID/DSCC Business Conference at DisplayWeek, sponsored by Applied Materials, Corning, GE, OTI Lumionics, Smartkem and Universal Display Corporation, will feature 29 presentations from 26 different companies, representing a great value. Taking place at the San Jose Convention Center on May 13th, the event features four keynotes with unique viewpoints. The keynotes include:

  • Ross Young, Co-Founder and CEO, DSCC
  • Ian Jenks, Chairman and CEO, Smartkem
  • Max McDaniel, VP and CMO, Applied Materials

According to DSCC CEO Ross Young, “Display revenues have suffered a 30% decline from their peak of $165B in 2021 to $116B in 2023 on both lower prices and fewer units. However, it is now poised to rebound on AI boosting unit demand in smartphones and PCs, more immersive displays creating opportunities for rapid growth in AR/VR and other segments, tighter supply/demand from numerous older fab closures in LCDs leading to higher/more stable pricing and a transition to better performing/more expensive OLEDs and MiniLED LCDs in most applications.”

The keynote talks will cover a wide range of topics including:

  • The latest unit and revenue forecasts for the display industry.
  • Industry catalysts and headwinds.
  • MicroLED and Micro OLED challenges and opportunities.
  • The outlook for organic TFTs in microLEDs and other applications.
  • Does the “OLED Wave” have legs in large-area displays and in VR or is it a short term phenomenon?
  • Can mask-less OLEDs replace fine metal mask based OLEDs? How real is this technology and in which applications are they best positioned?
  • How real are the backplane and frontplane technology risks for G8.7 IT OLEDs?
  • And much more.
