SID Business Conference to Highlight MicroLED Commercialization Pathways

Seoul, Beijing, Buenos Aires, Hong Kong, London, New Delhi, San Diego, Taipei, Tokyo -

MicroLED will be a major topic at the 2025 SID Business Conference, powered by Counterpoint Research, on May 13 and 14 at the San Jose Convention Center. Several high-profile companies will present innovative solutions for the successful commercialization of MicroLED displays in multiple applications.

The speakers include:

  • Dr Eric Cheng, CEO of Tianma America
  • Dr Guillaume Chansin, Associate Director at Counterpoint Research
  • Pierre Laboisse, CEO of Aledia
  • Robert Selley, Chief Commercial Officer at VueReal
  • Ian Jenks, Chairman and CEO of SmartKem
  • David Lewis, Founder and CEO of InZiv
  • Simon Jones, Co-founder and Chair of Pixel-Flo

MicroLED has long been presented as a high-performance display technology that can deliver high contrast, high brightness and long lifetime. There was a major setback last year when Apple canceled plans to launch a new watch with a MicroLED display. However, the MicroLED industry is still alive and is taking different approaches to avoid the same pitfalls.

On Day 1 of the conference, Tianma America CEO Dr Eric Cheng will share insights into the growth of the automotive display market and will cover Tianma’s core automotive display technologies, including MicroLED. VueReal will give examples of new applications enabled by Microsolid Printing, such as MicroMirror for rearview automotive systems and sensor integration with MicroLED.

On Day 2, Counterpoint will present insights into the AR/VR market and the opportunities for MicroLED in smart glasses. Aledia CEO Pierre Laboisse will give an update on the industrial production of displays based on nanowire MicroLED technology and potential applications in consumer electronics, automotive and AR. InZiv Founder and CEO David Lewis will highlight how advanced inspection and metrology can enable MicroLED manufacturers to reach production scale. Smartkem will share the latest progress in MicroLED displays and backlights driven by organic TFTs. Pixel-Flo, a new startup that spun out from Sheffield University, will be exhibiting in the I-Zone for the first time. The talk will provide an update on the mass transfer challenge and will introduce a Continuous Flow Mass Transfer that offers extremely high continuous throughput and scalability to populate the largest panel sizes.

The SID Business Conference takes place during Display Week 2025 and covers all the key market segments for displays, including smartphones, TVs, IT and automotive. The SID Business Conference is powered by Counterpoint Research and sponsored by Applied Materials, Edison Innovations, InZiv, OTI Lumionics, Pixel-Flo, Smartkem, Tianma, Universal Display Corporation and VueReal.
