iPhone 16 Series Panel Procurement Projected to Be 8% Higher than iPhone 15 Series through September

La Jolla, CA -

  • Through August, cumulative iPhone 16 series panel shipments were 13% higher than iPhone 15 series.
  • For the iPhone 16 series, iPhone 16 Pro models accounted for a 66% cumulative share in August.
  • Through September, iPhone 16 panel shipments are expected to be 8% higher versus iPhone 15 series.

As we approach the end of September and with the launch of the iPhone 16 series, our latest release of the Monthly Flagship Smartphone Display Tracker shows that cumulative panel shipments through September for the iPhone 16 Series are tracking 8% higher versus the iPhone 15 series during the same period in 2023. Panel shipments for the iPhone 15 series started in June 2023, while panel shipments for the iPhone 16 series started in July 2024. On a M/M basis for August, the iPhone 15 series decreased 53% M/M. iPhone 15 series panels shipments are expected to continue to decline M/M as panel shipments for the iPhone 16 series continue to ramp up.

In addition, similar to previous years during the months of January - September, we see more panel shipments for some entry level and Pro models such as the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 as Apple continues to target emerging markets. During Apple’s FY Q3’24 earnings call they reported double-digit Y/Y growth in some of the emerging markets.

With the current mix of panel shipments for the iPhone 16 series, the iPhone 16 Pro models accounted for a 66% cumulative share in Augusts versus a 54% cumulative share for the iPhone 15 Pro models during the same time period in 2023.
