DSCC Reports Panel Shipments for the iPhone 15 Series Were 16% Higher than the iPhone 14 Series through October

La Jolla, CA -

The iPhone 15 series has now been available for over two months. DSCC’s latest release of the Monthly Flagship Smartphone Tracker shows that panel shipments for the iPhone 15 series were 16% higher than the iPhone 14 series and 21% higher than the iPhone 13 series during the same time period through October.

According to DSCC Senior Research Director, David Naranjo, “Panel shipments for the iPhone 15 Pro models account for a higher share versus the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro models during the June – October time period. On a cumulative basis, from June through October, the iPhone 15 Pro models had a 64% share versus a 54% share for the iPhone 14 series and for the iPhone 13 series.”

In October, the iPhone 15 Pro models had a 71% share, up from a 65% share in September. As a result of the Pro model’s majority share and the higher starting price for the iPhone 15 Pro Max at $1199 with 256GB storage (the price of the iPhone 14 Pro was $1199 with 256GB storage and $1099 with 128GB storage), the blended ASPs for the iPhone 15 series remain 5% higher versus the iPhone 14 series in the June - October 2022 time period. During Apple’s recent FY Q4’23 (CY Q3’23) earnings call, Apple reported quarterly revenues of $89.5B with iPhone revenues increasing 3% Y/Y to $43.8B. Apple noted that for FY Q1’24, iPhone revenue is expected to continue to increase Y/Y on an absolute basis despite experiencing supply constraints for the iPhone 15 Pro models.

In the June to October period for the iPhone 15 series, SDC had a commanding share of 81% (versus an 82% share for the iPhone 14 series during the same period in 2022 and a 79% share for the iPhone 13 series during the same time period in 2021). SDC’s commanding share is the result of being the only panel supplier for all four models of the iPhone 15, iPhone 14 and the iPhone 13 series. LGD also started shipping panels for the iPhone 15 Pro Max in September and had a cumulative 18% share through October. In September, SDC had a 74% share with LGD at 25%. LGD supplies panels for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max (LGD also supplies panels for the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro Max). BOE started to ship panels in October for the iPhone 15 and had a 1% share. BOE also supplies panels for the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone 14.
