DSCC Announces Agenda and Speakers for 2024 SID/DSCC Business Conference

Jon Prosser will be speaking in front of the DSCC audience for the first time. DSCC was very impressed with his review of the Apple Vision Pro and thought it would be helpful to share his visionary outlook for this product with the DSCC audience. It was interesting that while he initially focused on the hardware details, he then took a step and focused on the experience which he thought of as magic or as a time machine. Check it out and what it means for the future of smartphones and AR/VR headsets.

The other speakers spoke last year and will update their display market and technology outlook with the latest developments from the past 12 months.

Now that Counterpoint Research has acquired DSCC, they intend to showcase some of Counterpoint’s most suitable research and best analysts to the DSCC audience. Jeff Fieldhack has spoken at this event virtually the past few years, but now he will be onsite to share his research and outlook for the smartphone market.

UDC’s Dr. Hack will discuss the latest timing for the introduction of phosphorescent blue and what it means for panel performance, etc. He will also share their efficiency innovation roadmap and progress in Plasmonics, OVJP and OLED red light therapy.

Corning’s Lori Hamilton will discuss the latest advancements in Gorilla Glass for smartphones, tablets and other products in reducing reflectivity and new coatings to boost contrast.

OTI Lumionics’ Michael Helander will discuss the challenges and opportunities from PFAS chemicals in the display industry as the EU and other governments look to curtail their usage. What materials are involved, and which materials can be used to replace them? Eliminating PFAS chemicals from the display industry will require new panel designs, process technology, and materials, which will create new opportunities for innovation and product differentiation.

TV Market and Technology Outlook

The TV session is always a crowd favorite, and DSCC expects to add one-to-two more speakers in this session. There will also be a panel session.

IT Displays - Can Advanced Display Technologies Transform the IT Market?

This session will examine the market for IT displays covering tablets, notebook PCs and monitors. What will be the impact of AI in these markets? DSCC expects to have one-to-two more speakers in this session as well.
